This is the first part of a three-part series on heavy fermion materials. Phenomenology and theoretical interpretation will be mainly discussed from the above two references. This can be considered a continuation of part 1 of the superconductivity series. The goal of this three-part heavy-fermion series is to do a broad study of the field of heavy-fermion materials (not limited to superconductivity). Some of the topics that will be discussed in this part are Kondo effect, Periodic Anderson Model (PAM), and the heavy fermion phase diagram.
