This talk will give a broad overview of a specific class of magnetic systems which are “frustrated.” The term “frustration,” first coined by Gerard Toulouse in 1977, refers to the inability of a system’s spins to attain energetically favorable configuration(s), thus leading to a plethora of non-trivial ground states and properties uncommon in magnetic systems lacking frustration.
