Review of Symmetry Protected Topological phases of Quantum Matter

This talk will cover the first review article on Symmetry Protected Topological (SPT) phases. The above article focusses on interacting generalizations of 3D topological insulators. Such 3D systems can potentially exhibit intrinsic topological order on the 2D surface by gapping out the topologically non-trivial surface states while still preserving time-reversal symmetry, a property not captured by the cohomology group classification of SPT phases. The cohomology group classification of SPT phases was covered in an earlier talk by Sujeet Shukla.
